Outtakes from Senegal

December 8 (2022): actress, model and Chanel Ambassador Komatsu Nana was in Dakar, Senegal, to attend the Métiers D’Art show and exhibition for Chanel, a premiere in Africa (see Métiers d’Art in Dakar on this blog). During her short stay there, Vogue Japan organized a photoshoot that was published a few weeks later, on February 1, 2023: Chanel-Dakar-Nana Komatsu.

The photographer in charge of the photo session was visual artist Djibril Dramé aka Gadaay whose agency (Sabali Inc) prepared the session with the Vogue team. I wrote a short interview article of Djibril Dramé for Blog Fascinant Japon, a very popular blog in the French language, dedicated to Japanese culture, art (past and present) and history: Vogue Japon au Sénégal. Vogue Trip to Senegal

Autumn 2022 (early December): actress and model Komatsu Nana spent a few days in Dakar, Senegal, as she went there to attend The Métiers D’Art Exhibition on December 8. The event was set up by Chanel with the active collaboration of local talents and organisations. It was a premiere in Africa ! Short report on this blog: Metiers d’Art in Dakar.

Vogue Japan prepared a report and there was a photosession with the actress, pictures which are published in the March issue of the famous magazine and also available in an online article. The forthcoming release of Madame Figaro Japan with Nana Komatsu and Ayami Nakajo on the cover (December issue) is a good opportunity to be reminded of a previous collaboration for Vogue Japan in 2016: photoshoot and clip by German photographer and director Ellen von Unwerth.
