Among the numerous features (about 4 hours of footage) included in the Premium bluray edition of The Last Ten Years, the making of documentary stands out. The Diary of The Last Ten Years is a 59′ long report which presents the filming of key scenes as well as short interviews. The focus is on Komatsu Nana, Sakaguchi Kentaro and director Michihito Fujii, yet you have sequences with all the members of the remarkable supporting cast: Yuki Yamada, Nao, Haru Kuroki, Tetsushi Tanaka, Hideko Hara, Yutaka Matsushige, Lily Franky

Yomei 10 Nen DVD Promo Event

On Wednesday 20, Director Michihito Fujii and the two co-stars of The Last Ten YearsKentaro Sakaguchi and Nana Komatsu – were at the Space FS Shiodome Cinema in Shinbashi (Tokyo) for a special promo event to celebrate the digital release of the movie (June 24) and the imminent distribution of the DVD/Bluray on Friday 22 July.

Komatsu Nana is Matsuri Takabayashi in The Last Ten Years, a film by director Michihito Fujii (Day and Night, The Journalist, Yakuza and the Family…) based on the novel Yomei 10 Nen by Ruka Kosaka which was published in December 2017. Distributed by Warner Bros Japan, the movie was released in Japanese theaters on March 4, 2022 and became a big box office hit, the success story continues in Thailand and Taiwan where it reached the hearts of many viewers.

Plot (by Asian Wiki): 20-year-old Matsuri Takabayashi learns that she only has 10 years to live due to an incurable disease. She decides to not dwell on her life and not to fall in love, but she meets Kazuto Manabe (Kentaro Sakaguchi) at a school reunion…

The Last Ten Years is not your average tearjerker and it’s not just the sad tale of a young woman hit by a cruel fate, it is also a celebration of courage, friendship, family love, romantic love, a celebration of life.

Diary of The Last Ten Years

Prior to the release of the DVD/Bluray on July 22, The Last Ten Years aka Yomei10Nen will be available from June 24 as an advance download sale for Japanese customers. The production team has just released an excerpt of ‘Diary Of The last 10 years‘, a making of featurette included in the Premium edition. Yomei 10 Nen DVD on July 22

Director Michihito Fujii‘s latest opus The Last Ten Years reached Japanese theaters just a couple of months ago on March 4, yet it will be released on DVD and Bluray on July 22 and available on digital format as soon as June 24 ! Usually, it takes about 6 months (sometimes more) for films to be released on physical disc formats but surely Warner Japan wants to build on the momentum of the movie’s remarkable success.

Box Office Hit: Yomei10nen/The Last Ten years entered the charts at #1, topped the box office for three weeks in a row and remained in the top ten until it stopped being screened on a nationwide basis, bar a few selected theaters and some special events, on May 12. With a gross revenue of nearly 3 billion yens (about 23.5 million USD), it has become the number 1 live action film in 2022.
