Parasites on the set

Parasite in Love has entered its second week of release and in spite of a relatively limited number of theaters where it’s screened (150+, not the ‘usual’ 250+) the movie remains in the Top 15 in terms of box office, according to Eiga.com. Viewers’ reviews are positive more often than not with a 3.3 average at Eiga.com and 3.4 at Filmarks

Some More Love for Parasites

Parasite in Love is the latest film from director Kensaku Kakimoto. It was released in Japan on Friday November 12 and will be screened until mid December: Theaters list.

Synopsis from Asian Wiki: a young man named Kengo Kosaka (Kento Hayashi) suffers from extreme mysophobia. Due to his compulsive disorder, he is unable to maintain a relationship with anyone. Kengo Kosaka is also a lonely young man. Meanwhile, high school student Hijiri Sanagi (Nana Komatsu) has scopophobia. Because of her fear of being stared at, she refuses to go to school. Both Kengo Kosaka and Hijiri Sanagi do not expect to find love with another person, but they meet and fall in love. They have happy days, but ….

D-Day for Parasites

There we are: Parasite in Love hits Japanese theaters as of today, over 150 of them all over the country. A special screening with stage greetings has been set for tomorrow at the Grand Cinema Sunshine in the Shinjuku Baltic 9 Complex, Tokyo. Co-stars Kento Hayashi and Nana Komatsu will attend in the company of director Kensaku Kakimoto.

Parasites on Friday

The latest promotional activities for Parasite in Love, the new movie from director Kensaku Kakimoto: new extended trailer, special interview article on Cinra.net, film stills (outtakes), other interviews, TV appearances etc… Now it’s just 2 days to go before the nationwide theatrical release on Friday 12.

The Cinra.net interview with director Kakimoto and his two leads, i.e. Nana Komatsu and Kento Hayashi, is quite remarkable. It’s a long one but really worth reading, an in-depth take on their thoughts about solitude, the anxieties the covid crisis brought about, the status of minorities, the way the actors faced challenging roles… you will find below a translation of short selected excerpts.
